Desk report : Adobe and the Adobe Foundation are committing an additional $5 million to their fund supporting underrepresented creators and filmmakers, alongside a $1 million donation to aid wildfire recovery efforts and the entertainment community.
Advancing Inclusion in Film and TV
The Adobe Film & TV Fund, launched in 2024, aims to create career opportunities and foster greater representation in the film and television industry. This latest $5 million commitment builds upon an initial $6 million provided in grants, contributions, and Adobe Creative Cloud product donations.
The fund is collaborating with the Group Effort Initiative, a program founded by Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively in 2020, to offer Adobe training for aspiring filmmakers, editors, and marketers. The partnership will also support mid-career professionals through mentorship, education, and employer engagement.
“When it comes to storytelling in film and TV, diversity is crucial and ensures that audiences feel represented and heard,” said Stacy Martinet, Adobe’s VP of Marketing Strategy and Communications. “It’s not just optics; we need unique voices and visionaries behind the scenes, shaping the stories that reflect our world.”
Spotlighting Adobe-Supported Filmmakers
Three filmmakers backed by the Adobe Film & TV Fund in 2024 will debut their works at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival:
- María Gabriela Torres, editor of The Librarians
- Isabel Castro, director of Selena y Los Dinos
- Mario Fierro, editor of Sweet Talkin’ Guy
These creators exemplify the program’s mission to elevate diverse voices in storytelling.
Supporting Wildfire Recovery and the Entertainment Community
In addition to supporting creators, Adobe is addressing urgent needs with a $1 million donation to the California Community Foundation. This includes contributions to the Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Entertainment Community Fund to help those affected by recent disasters.
Adobe will also match external donations to both funds, amplifying the impact of relief efforts.
Commitment to Change
This dual investment reinforces Adobe’s commitment to empowering underrepresented creators while addressing critical community challenges. By fostering inclusion in the entertainment industry and supporting disaster relief, Adobe is working to make a meaningful impact both on and off the screen.
