Magnitude 3.9 Earthquake Strikes York Harbor, Maine; Shaking Felt in Boston
Us Desk: A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck York Harbor, Maine, on Monday morning, with tremors also reported in Boston, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Initially recorded as a magnitude 4.1, the earthquake’s size was later revised to 3.9. The epicenter was located approximately 45 miles south of Portland, Maine, and the quake occurred just before 10:30 a.m. local time.
While no damage or injuries have been reported, the USGS confirmed that the shaking was felt in several nearby areas, including Boston. The U.S. Tsunami Warning Center also reassured the public that there is no tsunami threat at this time.
