Corporatenews Desk: A batch of Pams Tempura Coated Chicken Nuggets has been urgently recalled in New Zealand following concerns over possible contamination with blue rubber fragments. The recall, issued by Foodstuffs Own Brands Ltd and backed by New Zealand Food Safety, targets 1kg bags with a best-before date of 16 October 2025.
The affected product was distributed to several major supermarket chains, including Four Square, Gilmours, New World, Pak’nSave, and Social Supermarket stores nationwide. Customers who have purchased the nuggets are urged not to consume them and to return the product to the store for a full refund or dispose of it if returning is not possible.
Vincent Arbuckle, Deputy Director-General of New Zealand Food Safety, stressed the importance of immediate action. “If you have a 1kg bag of Pams Tempura Coated Chicken Nuggets with the specified best-before date, do not eat them,” he said. “Return them to the retailer or discard them safely.”
The recall was prompted by a customer complaint, which led to an investigation into the issue. Foodstuffs has confirmed that the affected batch has been removed from store shelves, and no other Pams products are involved in the recall. The company is collaborating with New Zealand Food Safety to identify the source of the contamination and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
Consumers who may have already eaten the product and are experiencing health concerns are advised to seek medical advice. Foodstuffs has also confirmed that none of the affected products were exported, and the recall is limited to the specified batch.
This recall underscores the critical importance of robust quality control in food production and the need for prompt action to safeguard public health. Customers are encouraged to check their freezers for the recalled product and follow the recommended steps to ensure their safety.
