The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee held its second meeting under the interim government on Sunday in Chattogram, reiterating the urgent need for the full and effective implementation of the landmark CHT Peace Accord.
The meeting took place at the conference room of the Complex Building adjacent to the Karnaphuli Tunnel Site Office Toll Plaza in Anwara. It was chaired by the committee’s Convener, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain.
Among those present were Supradip Chakma, Adviser for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs; Jyotirindra Bodhipriya (Santu) Larma, Chairman of the CHT Regional Council; Sudatta Chakma, Chairman of the Refugee Affairs Task Force and Senior Secretary; Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, Secretary; and Md. Monirul Islam, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. Senior officials from the ministry and its affiliated agencies also attended the meeting.
The committee was reconstituted by the government on January 12, 2025, with Md. Touhid Hossain appointed as its Convener. Key members include Regional Council Chairman Santu Larma and Refugee Affairs Task Force Chairman Sudatta Chakma.
This meeting followed the committee’s first sitting under the interim government, which was held on July 19, 2025, in Rangamati.
During the discussions, committee members underscored that the complete implementation of the CHT Peace Accord is essential for ensuring lasting peace, stability, and development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region. They emphasized coordinated efforts among government institutions and stakeholders to address long-standing issues and honor the commitments made under the accord.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to accelerate monitoring and implementation measures in line with the objectives of the historic peace agreement. Press release
